The Wave Chair

The Wave Chair

Inspired by the flow of water, the wave chair takes on an organic curved form inviting people to relax and unwind in its comfort.

Made from 3/4” walnut plywood, upholstery cushioning, and cotton-polyester woven upholstery fabric.

This chair was designed and constructed in 2025 as a bespoke sculptural piece for TIDEPOINT, my senior thesis project — a mixed-use waterfront development located on Treasure Island, California. Inspired by the growing presence of sculptural furniture in contemporary design, I set out to create a functional artwork that would enhance the identity of the terrarium-style café within the project. The cafe overlooks the San Francisco Bay which inspired the organic form of the piece. The Wave Chair serves as a seating element and a visual focal point to encourage pause and presence.
